The incident with Mordecai refusing to bow to Haman, surfaced generations-old hatred between the Amalekites, Haman’s ancestry, and the Jews. Haman took this deep-seated hatred home with him and received foolish counsel from his wife. Faced with a choice to accept her advice or to choose a Godly approach, he chose her suggestion and had a gallows built to hang Mordecai in a public display of hatred and revenge.
