“Hey, Moses! We’re hungry. When we were in Egypt we could eat as much as we wanted. This life, on the move, through the desert is terrible. We were better off in Egypt. What are you going to do about it, the Israelites complained?”
“Moses, I’ve heard the grumblings of the people. I’m going to provide food for them; but, let’s see how well they follow instructions.” They are to gather what they need for a day, each day. They are not to keep it from one day to the next. Except on Saturday they are to collect enough for two days; so they do not need to gather on Sunday,” God said.
