King Herod had assigned four squads of four soldiers each to insure that Peter remained secured. Two soldiers were chained to him at all times and two stood guard just outside the cell door. In spite of the precautions, the next morning was a disaster for the guards because Peter was gone and nobody had any idea how Peter disappeared. Herod was furious and after questioning them, he ordered that they be executed for allowing their prisoner to escape. [Reflection is based on the Bible Reference – Acts 12:18-19]
