Reflection – Judah Pleads Benjamin’s Case

Judah pleads Benjamin's case

On the journey home, Joseph’s brothers were stopped and searched for Joseph’s missing silver cup.  The cup was found in Benjamin’s grain sack.  The brothers were faced with a choice…go home and tell their father the sad news…that Benjamin was forced to become a slave or all go back to Egypt, along with Benjamin.

How the brothers chose to handle this event was of great interest to Joseph.  Judah stepped forward and asked to speak on behalf of his father, Jacob and his brother, Benjamin.  Judah presented a passionate plea for his father and the grief this event would cause.

Joseph was convinced that his brothers had changed from the self-centered, scheming individuals of twenty years earlier. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – Genesis 44:1-34]
