Traveling to a place he had never been, Jacob needed guidance from God. At Bethel, God said to Jacob that He would watch over him. Now, Jacob is about to see God’s will in his life.
As he approached a well, he saw several shepherds with their flocks near the well. He learned from one of the shepherds that he was from the town where he was headed. He asked, “Do you know a man by the name of Laban?” “Yes!” the shepherd replied. “And, here comes his daughter, Rachel, with their sheep.”
It was love at first sight. When Jacob saw Rachel, he thought her to be the most beautiful person he’d met. He rolled the stone off the well and helped her water her father’s sheep. Impulsively, he kissed her and explained that he was her cousin, Rebekah’s son. She didn’t wait to hear more; she ran off to tell her father. Laban came and welcomed him, with great enthusiasm.
