The wife of a prophet became a widow and a creditor was demanding that two of her boys become slaves. Elisha asked her, “How can I help you? What do you have in your house?” “All that’s left,” she said, “Is a small jar of olive oil.” “Go to all your neighbors and ask them for their empty jars,” Elisha instructed. “When you’ve gathered the empty jars, go inside, with your sons, and pour oil into all the jars until they are filled.”
When all the jars were filled, the widow found Elisha and told him. He stated, “Go sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what’s left.” [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – 2 Kings 4:1-7]
