Following the death of Ish-Bosheth, serving as king of Israel, except Judah, the elders of all the tribes of Israel came to David and acknowledged that it was God’s will that David should be their king.
God was with David and enabled his men to conquer the Jebusites that lived in Jerusalem. David took up residence at Jerusalem and he called it the City of David. King Hiram of Tyre sent cedar logs, wood cutters and stone masons and a palace was built for David. [Reflection is based on the Bible Reference – 2 Samuel 5:1-11]
