An excerpt from "The Gospels.com" entitled, "What Are The Gospels?" states: "The Gospels are historical documents that comprise the first four books of the Bible’s New Testament. They describe the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and were written by four of his followers -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The word Gospel comes from the Greek word euangelion (yü-än-gē-lē-on), which means “good news.” The word is also the source for the modern English term “evangelism,” which refers to the telling of the good news."
