God instructed Moses to collect the “walking stick” of each of the tribal leaders and place them into the Tabernacle, in front of the sacred chest. Aaron’s name was on the “walking stick” representing the tribe of Levi. God said He would choose the leader that would serve as the priest. His choice would be reflected in the stick that sprouted.
The next day, when Moses checked, Aaron’s “walking stick” not only sprouted, but it contained blossoms and almonds. All the sticks were brought out and the leaders found and took their sticks. God instructed Moses to put Aaron’s stick back into the Tabernacle as a warning to anybody who thought of rebelling. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – Numbers 17:1-12]
