An excerpt from “biblehub.com” reference: “Elliot’s Commentary for English Readers” (re. Ephesians 4:14) states “Tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine.--The metaphor is of a ship drifting at the mercy of a storm, tossed by the waves, and carried round from time to time by every blast. The word "tossed" is more properly used of the waves (compare James 1:6) themselves, but the following words seem to show that here it is applied to the ship rising and falling with them.” This reference may be viewed at: Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the clever cunning of men in their deceitful scheming. Application: “There are multitudes of doctrines, or teachings out there that have to be evaluated for conformity to the Word of God. We should grow in grace and in our understanding of the Word so that we are not tossed around by every such wind or wave that comes our way. [Source: Ephesians 4:14 | The Tuinstras ]
