Through Paul, God performed a miracle. A man who had been lame from birth, listened to Paul’s teaching and had faith in the power of God. Inspired by God, Paul commanded the lame man to stand up. Immediately, the lame man jumped to his feet and began to walk. The crowd that witnessed the event thought Paul and Barnabas to be gods and prepared to offer sacrifices to them. With considerable effort Paul was able to prevent the crowd from offering sacrifices. It wasn’t long, however, before unbelieving Jews from Iconium and Pisidian Antioch came to Lystra and spoke badly of Paul and Barnabas. The crowd that wanted to offer sacrifices to Paul and Barnabas turned into a mob that stoned Paul and left him for dead. With the assistance of believers, Paul returned to the city before he and Barnabas departed the next day. [Reflection is based on the Bible Reference – Acts 14:8-20]
