Changed from a hunter and oppressor of Christians to an evangelist and defender of Jesus as the Messiah, Saul amazed the people of Damascus. While he amazed many, he offended others who were opposed to linking Jesus as the Messiah. This group plotted to kill Saul and they waited for him day and night at the city gates. There were some of the believers that became his followers and they arranged for Saul’s escape from the city by lowering him in a basket through a hole in the city wall.
