When Jesus arrived at the home of Jairus, the professional mourners were in place wailing, as was their custom. Immediately, Jesus instructed them to stop wailing. The reason He gave was because the child was not dead, but asleep. If the mourners cared for the child and the family, this should have been wonderful news. Their laughter was not because they were happy; but, a form of ridicule, for they thought they knew more than Jesus. [Reflection is based on the Bible Reference – Luke 8:51-55]
