John the Baptist, son of Zachariah and Elizabeth, responding to the Spirit of God, dedicated his life to preaching the need for repentance of sins and followed with baptism with water. Wearing clothing made of camel’s hair and eating locusts and wild honey, John the Baptist looked every bit the outdoors type. Regardless of appearance, he was sincere in his lifestyle and message; and he attracted a great many people; many of whom repented of their sins.
