Jehoram, son-in-law of King Ahab chose to follow the evil ways of Ahab. Edom saw the transition from Jehoshaphat to Jehoram as an opportunity to become independent from Judah, by establishing their own king. Jehoram tried to regain control of Edom by military force, but failed. Jehoram chose to turn away from God; and his leadership was not beneficial to the Israelites in Judah.
