When Jezebel learned of the reason for Ahab’s behavior, she said, “You’re the king! Cheer up! I’ll get you the vineyard.” With that, she arranged to have a day of fasting with Naboth seated in a prominent position. Secretly, she arranged to have two scoundrels present who would bring charges of blasphemy against Naboth. For this false accusation, Naboth was stoned to death.
