“Ahab, I have a message for you from God. There will be neither rain nor dew for the next few years, until God tells me otherwise.” With that, Elijah gave God’s message to King Ahab. But, Ahab, along with Jezebel were worshipping Baal, which was the god that assured people of rain and crops. All the worshippers of Baal would get a lesson on how effective Baal would be in providing rain.
Meanwhile, God instructed Elijah to remove himself from the area and He would provide for Elijah’s needs. Elijah camped near a brook that supplied water and ravens brought him bread and meat daily. When the brook dried up, God told Elijah to go to a town near Sidon. There he would meet a person that would provide him with food. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – 1 Kings 17:1-9]
