The Israelite Army was battling the Ammonites while David was at his palace in Jerusalem. Not focused on obedience to God, David allowed himself to become attracted to a neighbor, Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, a soldier at the battlefront. The affair resulted in a pregnancy, a scheme to place Uriah in a position of vulnerability to the enemy; and the death of Uriah. God was displeased with David and He sent Nathan, the Prophet, to David. Nathan told David a story about a wealthy man that took advantage of a poor man. David was furious at the injustice; but Nathan told David he was that man. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – 2 Samuel 11:1-12:23]
