Naomi and Ruth did not have a husband or father to provide support, so Ruth said to Naomi, “Let me go out into the fields and pick up leftover grain from the harvesters.”
God arranged that the field Ruth chose belonged to a man named Boaz, a relative of Naomi’s deceased husband. When Boaz returned to the land, he asked the overseer who Ruth was. The overseer explained that Ruth had asked permission and that she was the daughter-in-law of Naomi. Boaz instructed the harvesters to do no harm to Ruth and to provide some stalks for her to pick up. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – Ruth 2:1-12]
