One day, Jesus was invited to the home of a Pharisee for dinner. As was His custom, He chose a seat at the far end of the table, allowing others to choose seats near the head table. News of the event reached the ears of a woman who lived a lifestyle that caused her sorrow and regret. She had heard that Jesus was a compassionate man and offered forgiveness for sins. If only He would forgive her. Would He? She slipped into the room, found the place where Jesus was sitting and knelt at His feet. Her sorrow was so great that she wept tears that fell onto the feet of Jesus. She had no towel; so, she used her hair to dry his feet. All this was too much for the host, who thought, “How can he be a prophet? For if he were, he would know the reputation of this woman.” Jesus said to the host, “From the moment this woman entered, she hasn’t stopped asking forgiveness for her sins. And, I’m aware there are many.” To the woman He said, “I forgive your sins.” The burden of her sins was removed and she began a new life.
