TUNE MY HEART, LORD
One of my favorite hymns is Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing. I particularly like the lyric, “tune my heart to sing Thy praise.” It begs the question, “How do we tune our hearts?” Certainly we are familiar with tuning an instrument or tuning into your favorite radio station or even taking a car in for a tune up. Each implies the thing being talked about needs changing. So when the hymn requests that we tune our hearts, it is suggesting that perhaps our hearts need a change too. Truth be told, we don’t always “feel” like praising God! Life can be hard and days can be filled with many challenges. Some days praising is the last thing we “feel” like doing. But those are the days when our prayer should be…”Dear God, Tune my heart to sing Thy praise!”
Psalm 146: 1-2 Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, my soul! I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
