Having received God’s unfavorable interpretation of his dream, from Joseph, the Chief Baker remained miserable for the next three days. At the end of this time, as part of Pharaoh’s birthday celebration, he had the Chief Baker released from prison. But rather than restoring the Chief Baker to his former position, he had the Chief Baker’s head removed, his body impaled on a pole and the birds came and ate his flesh, as Joseph had said.
